VULNERABILITY AND NEW BEGINNINGS WITH TYSE NETT
It’s all about the music. For Tyse Nett it is about the music and a whole lot more. Tyse creates music with a story, a theme and playful wordplay. Telling stories from past experiences, Tyse has been putting it all on the table while allowing listeners to relate and learn from his past. Tyse has let his music share perspective. On April 19th 2020, Tyse released ‘New Beginnings’ to the world. A full-length album with themes of vulnerability, focus, and strength. 14-tracks of flawless story telling. The album was accompanied by visuals created by local legends – DillyBat and SubtleCinematics. Tyse entered 2020 with a big bang, and never let anything hold him back. There is nothing stopping the Saskatchewan hip hop powerhouse, he has shown perseverance and he is making it look really good.
Tyse Nett joins us to chat about how he got into writing music, the therapeutic opportunity that his music brings, having his style of rapping compared to other rappers, what his fans mean to him, the future goals for Tyse, projects that are in the works, working with SubtleCinematics, and so much more.
We also learn who his role models in music are, what musicians inspire him, his bucket list of performers that he would like to perform with, and who inspires him the most outside of music.

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT YOUR SONGS RESONATE ON A DEEP LEVEL.
WHAT MADE YOU BEGIN TO WRITE MUSIC AND SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD?
TYSE NETT: I started writing music back in 2015 when I was 14 years old. I grew up with a lot of unacceptance. Fitting in was super hard for me and when I was younger, I was incredibly socially awkward so that eventually caused me to become an easier target for kids to make fun of or pick on. Ive had to move to 7 different schools just due to things like bullying or the constant feeling of being left out. Even though it felt like I was alone I knew that I wasn’t the only person who struggled with this so I tried using my unacceptance as a voice through music for other people to relate to so they didn’t feel alone.

YOUR MUSIC IS THERAPEUTIC.
IS YOUR MUSIC AS THERAPEUTIC FOR YOURSELF AS IT IS FOR YOUR LISTENERS? WHAT DOES MAKING MUSIC MEAN TO YOU?
TYSE NETT: I write music literally every single day and sometimes for hours on end. It’s definitely a therapeutic outlet for me when I feel lonely or am dealing with hurt that I can’t express to others. There are somethings you can’t always talk about ya know?
Making music for myself and others to relate to gives me purpose and meaning in life. I think the fact that my songs are able to reach out and relate to people or inspire them is incredible for me.
It’s important to note that sometimes writing for long periods of time can be dangerous as well. Imagine being by yourself for like 6 hours just picking yourself apart trying to dig through the deepest feelings you have then on top of all that trying to make it all rhyme. haha. That’s just something I’m currently trying to work on for myself.
“I ADDRESS A LOT OF ISSUES”
– TYSE NETT

YOU VALUE YOUR INDIVIDUALITY AND ARE OFTEN COMPARED TO NF.
WHAT DO YOU FEEL SETS YOURSELF APART FROM OTHER RAPPERS?
TYSE NETT: Lols I get compared to him so much it honestly makes me wanna throw avocados at people. I don’t have anything against NF… at all. The annoying part about the comparison is when people devalue the work and effort I put into my own music.
I’d like to think my songs address a lot of issues but at the same time I try and resolve them and that’s what makes my music impactful. It’s not just me saying like “I’m sad and depressed, feel bad for me”.. I try to put a solution in my songs for the issue I am addressing.
I think Me and NF are both pretty real artists…He’s a great artist but my music isn’t as dark as his. It has more of an uplifting vibe.
WHAT MUSICIANS ARE YOUR ROLE MODEL?
TYSE NETT: Eminem, Joyner Lucas, Tom McDonald, and Justin Bieber (secret time: I’ve been influence by JB since I was like 10.. )
WHAT MUSICIANS DO YOU HOPE TO SHARE THE STAGE WITH?
TYSE NETT: Dax, Witt Lowry, John Lindahl, and Emma Elise.
WHAT MUSICIANS INSPIRE YOU?
TYSE NETT: NF, LANY, Anson Seabra, and Emma Elise.
Emma Elise is a huge influence for me as an artist. Her voice is amazing! Also in a song she’s able to diversify one topic in a way that has multiple meanings and I learn from that when I listen to her. She inspires me to write from the heart and I truly think she’s one of the best singer songwriters out there! For real!
Aside from music, a lot of my inspiration comes from my grandma (Vickie Case Valentine). She’s by far someone who understands me most and someone who heavily influenced the man I am as well as the artist I’ve become.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOUR FANS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TYSE NETT?
TYSE NETT: I want my entire fanbase to know that I wholeheartedly will always be there for them. They’re a huge part of my life, I truly am and will forever be grateful for them because they’ve given me purpose in life and that’s the best gift someone could ever ask for.
You can always depend on me to be strong for you. My fans are my everything.
“EXCITED TO SHOW THE WORLD”
– TYSE NETT
YOUR DEBUT ALBUM “NEW BEGINNINGS” LAUNCHED EARLY 2020
IT WAS A SILVER LINING TO A TOUGH YEAR FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. WHAT CAN WE ANTICIPATE FOR 2021?
TYSE NETT: I’m working heavily on Album 2 at the moment. My goal is to release the second record by summer of 2021. Currently my biggest task now is to release as much music as possible because I understand how tough this covid thing is. I know people are struggling out there mentally and overall are losing so much. It’s a very lonely and overwhelming time right now so I’ll do whatever I can as an artist to help.
I will be teaming up with “ Subltecinematics” from Regina, Saskatchewan for every major release and music video. They are the most self driven, Dedicated and compassionate group of people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. I truly admire them and I’m super excited to show the world the incredible things we have in store!!
Thank you!
